"Appy Erthday" Matt!!

My little brother has turned 22.  I remember when I was 22.  I still feel 22 for that matter.  But alas, I am the much older sister.  Matt and his girlfriend Emily drove up from New Orleans to spend some time with us.  We had cake, a wii tournament (which by the way I beat him in baseball!!!), and laughed and talked.  Matt is a video game wizard so that fact that I beat him at a game that I haven't even played since February is pretty cool.  Yeah Matt - I'm announcing it on my blog, I won I won.  I might be older, but probably not more mature :)  We had a fantastic time and I hope they come to visit again soon!

Know a Good Physical Therapist? I do!

I think my hubby is pretty amazing, so it's really cool when someone else gives him props.  Erik's job is his passion.  He truly wants to change his patients lives for the better.  Recently he aquired two teenage patients that had been in a bad car accident.  He's been working with them steadily to get them back in working order.  Today on their caring bridge site their mom talked about Erik specifically and their therapy.  Read about it here (for those of you new to blogs, just click on the word "here").  If you are worried about me creating a HIPPA violation, fear not!  Their caring bridge site is open to the world wide web and their mom did the posting.  Comment if you so desire and tell Erik how awesome you think he is too :)

DEMCO Antics, Family Visits, and Slideshows

So I had just completed this long post then somehow completely deleted it.  Oh this day.  Let's see what I can remember...

Warning, the first part of this post will be a rant of sorts.  Last night at 2:00am our power went out.  There wasn't any bad weather or anything.  The night before last we had terrible storms all night and never lost power.  Last night was all peaceful and quiet and then BOOM, out it went.  I'm pretty much convinced this is DEMCO's version of the rolling blackout, where they knock their customers power out for a time to save money.  The reason this is such a big deal is because Erik and I are box fan dependant.  The box fan doesn't work when the power's out.  No box fan = no sleep.  Not to mention how hot it gets!  Erik tried to download a white noise app to his phone, but we couldn't get it to work.  So we are both sleepy and cranky people this morning!

Ok enough grumbling.  My brother Matt is coming to visit tomorrow.  I'm going to make a cake for him since his birthday was last week.  We can't wait to see him.  Addison has been practicing her "Appy Erfday" song just for him.

A few weekends ago we went to see some of Erik's family in Columbia.  Addison got to meet her 92 year old great great grandmother.  That was really special.  She loved playing with cousin Cameron.  He is sooooo sweet.  I really could have taken him home!  Addison kept calling him Caillou after her favorite cartoon little boy.  We hope to see them all again really soon!

In other news, I've been working on a birthday slideshow for the sweetest little boy.  I could look at his pictures all day - he is just so loveable!  Here he is with his beautiful mama Jada.  Isn't he adorable?

Have a great day everyone!  I will be on the lookout for a battery operated box fan and some caffeine :)

Conversations with Addison

Erik:  Addison, are you ready to take a bath?
Addison:  No, no bath
Erik:  But you have to take a bath, you stink
Addison:  Thanks

Carley:  Addison, we've got to get you potty trained
Addison:  Choo Choo!!

A Girl & Her Tiger

That's Addison on the front page of today's newspaper!  Not just the sports section, but the front page!  We took her to fan day yesterday specifically to see Mike the Tiger.  She had been talking about it for 2 days.  We had to wait in line to be able to get her picture with him.

When it was finally her turn she ran up to him.

And of course she had to kiss him good-bye :)
She loved the cheerleaders and they loved her!  Here she is saying "LSU, LSU"...

And last was our photo op with Jordan Jefferson.  Let's hope he holds on to the ball this year as well as he held onto Addison.

Oh this heat!

This weather has been crazy lately!  Seems like we had an abnormally cold winter and now an abnormally hot summer.  Or maybe our summers are always this hot....  Either way, this is not fun.  Check out the temperature reading in my car the other day:

Soooo in the interest of cooling off, Erik broke out the sprinkler.

Addison wasn't big on getting "rained" on.  So we tried a nice cold drink instead.

I'm thinking her bathing suit is a little too small - check out that belly :)

When we visited the Greens a few weeks ago they had rigged up their playhouse slide right into their kiddie pool.  It was so cute and Addison loved it.

I've been searching and searching for one of those blue plastic pools to put Addison's playhouse slide into, but I can't find one anywhere.  Walmart only sells them at the beginning of the summer.  Let me know if anybody knows where I can find one this late in the season.  For now, we'll be mostly playing INSIDE!  Come on Fall!!

Cake Class One: Complete!

I did it!  I finished my first cake decorating class.  Even got the certificate to prove it...

We made another cake for our final class.  With this one I wanted to do the icing rose which is the most difficult thing we learned.  I think it came out ok.  I was going to do some little flowers here and there on the border at the bottom, but I was too tired once I got home.  They always say "less is more" so I left it like it was.  Let me know what you think!
