I'm a celebrity!!

That's right!  None other than Mrs. mustard.seed herself just blogged all about me and the mister and our night out at the mardi gras ball.  She also threw in some extra special valentine pics of our little angel.  So head on over to her blog and read all about it (especially if you missed the pictures on facebook).  And read some of her other posts while you are there!  She's a great writer.

Cake Classes: Done!

Well, it's official, I'm a cake school graduate. 

I'm kind of sad.  I enjoyed my Tuesday's nights with my cake friends and Mrs. Minh.  I'll miss it.  But I can definitely make a pretty decent looking cake now.

Here's my progression of cakes:

For the last one, the fondant covering it was homemade.  Quite a feat, but it tasted so much better than the store bought kind.

Now just what will I learn next....  ;)

Barney Live

We got out again for a brief jaunt to town to take Addison to see Barney at the River Center.  Yep, we win parents of the year award for that one.  I don't mind Barney so much.  He teaches manners, morals, and mostly singing.  There are a lot worse things Addison could watch - like Caillou!

Addison LOVES Barney.  Really loves him.  I pretty sure it was love at first sight.

She loved every minute.  She has asked to go back every day since.....  I'm pretty sure she thinks Barney lives at the River Center now. 

Can't wait till we can get out for our regular playdates next week.  Addison misses her friends and I miss my mommy talk!

Hiding from Germs...

This is Carley, coming to you from my hideout. That's right, I've been in hiding...from germs. I guess I wasn't doing a very good job. I had a 2 week (plus a few days) killer cold that I'm still recovering from. Us stay-at-home mama's just aren't used to those yucky kid super germs. Poor Addison has been cooped up with me. She is going STIR CRAZY!! Just because we are "stay at home" doesn't mean we usually stay at home! She is used to getting out, going on playdates, going grocery shopping, etc. We've had to bundle up because of the weather and play here (all while looking out for the neighbors killer dog - that's a story for another day).

Here is Addison after crying/begging to go outside on the coldest day of the year....

And what a good hubby he is too.  While I've been sick he's brought me chocolate ice cream, king cake, kleenex infused with vicks vapor rub (who knew they had such a thing??), and has done all the grocery shopping.  What would I do without him!  

So yes I am still alive!  Just hiding.  I did get out last night for cake class and learned how to make roses,  mums, and carnations out of fondant.  Took 2 hours to make 3 flowers - wow!  Here's a cell phone shot of my work (carnation not pictured)....

 Next week is the final class.  I'm kind of sad....  I've really enjoyed it.  Stay tuned tomorrow for a post on Barney live!

Some Addison Funnies

They other day Addison was playing around being silly.  I said "Addison are you being goofy?"  Her reply: "No mama I not goofy, I minnie mouse!".  Then she ran and grabbed her ears to prove it....

On first glance this little toy here appears to be a plastic shot from a kid sized medical kit.  But today...to Addison...it's a rocketship!

  I think I can see that.  Love the 2 year old imagination!

Yesterday as I was getting dressed Addison spotted my new bra and said, "oh mommy, it's beeeuuiful".  Is that cute or what!  Sorry, no pictures of that  ;)
